The location was unbeatable. Had a blast exploring downtown and the surrounding areas. Everything was within walking distance. The parking garage across the street was also reasonably priced. The room itself could not be better. It was clean, comfortable and had an excellent view of the city. The sixth floor does have it’s advantages. Perhaps the tallest hotel I’ve stayed in my lifetime. Katie Klein 5/5 in the last week Exceeded expectations! After a lot of research, we decided on the Paramount and we are thrilled with our choice! The staff was absolutely lovely and helped us celebrate our anniversary with a room upgrade AND a room amenity, including Prosecco and chocolate. We don’t always feel special at hotels because sometimes we think we are just perceived as young. It felt amazing and almost made me cry to feel like a valued guest. We got a beautiful corner view with a lovely jacuzzi tub. The pillows were amazing! Everything was clean and nice and we felt super welcome. It was right in the heart of downtown without feeling busy or chaotic. Have I mentioned the extremely reasonable price?? Thank you so much! Letty Garcia 5/5 a month ago This was our first stay at the Paramount and will not be our last. The hotel was clean and easily accessible. Staff was super nice, friendly and informative. The hotel was quiet, almost felt like we were the only ones there. we had a balcony room and it was so nice to just sit out there in the morning and get some fresh air =) . We also had drinks and dinner at their restaurant, Swine Whiskey Bar, and OMG some of the yummiest drinks in Portland! Food was also really good. Definitely would stay here again!

The highlight was a delightful sunset walk around the neighborhood. They are 420 friendly and have a place in the floor to smoke. The potatoes in the bar downstairs may be the best things I’ve ever eaten. Cocktails are top notch, and coffee rocks. Ellen Champion 5/5 2 months ago Prior to checking in at the Jupiter, we were having a horrible day. The staff, artsy decor and all around vibe helped us rebound and change the mood and outcome of our Portland excursion. We loved it!!!

We had gone to the restaurant a week in advance to select specific tables. We identified two tables for our four diners. Two days before, we confirmed the tables had been identified and would be held for our 6:30 PM RES. When we arrived AT 6:15, we were told that one of the owners (not Greg Higgins) made the decision to give one table to a party of six and the other to a party of four. They had just started their meals. Greg Higgins is a wonderful chef and respected in our community. His partner and managers are the pits. I’m not going back. Sam Adams 5/5 5 months ago The Higgins pop up outdoor dining experience in the lush tree lined open-air courtyard at Portland downtown’s Oregon Historical Society a relaxing and convivial setting. Carl from Chicago 5/5 a year ago Post Covid review I went to Higgins Piggins on the deck at the historical society museum. You can make reservations online which I recommend. The food was excellent. Two of us got the salmon and one got the ravioli and the other a steak. We also brought our own wine and the corkage fee was modest. It was one of the best dinners I’ve had since the pandemic and I highly suggest that you go while the weather is beautiful. Very good food. One of the pioneers of the “farm to table” movement. Our pasta and meat dishes were excellent and the drinks were great. Highly recommended.

Definitely try the crab/bay shrimp cakes. They were my favorite part of the meal. Our server, Carla, was also amazing. She was attentive and friendly. The food is more than I can afford, but it’s great as a special occasion and I would love to go back. My only complaint would be that my green beans were JUST slightly undercooked and still pretty crunchy. Amazing flavor though. Shekie 1/5 8 months ago So typically I write great reviews when I go to a great restaurant. Since it was my first time going to Portland we wanted to go somewhere which we had been told had great service n great food. Well besides the food being good. As a paying customer if I have to go to the restroom I shouldn’t be going to an outside restroom when there clearly is an indoor restroom. This was the restroom the staff instructed me to go to. Now I don’t ever use the race card but as an African American please explain this logic to me. Why was I instructed to go to the restroom outside? This is where I give 1 star for service. Management take what you want from it, but this is 100 percent unacceptable.

I ordered the Winter Squash White Cast Iron Pizza, and I’ve never enjoyed a pizza so much. I know …. I know…. A pizza? First, the crust was so good. I think using the cast iron skillet adds some extra “oomph” and texture (I could have eaten the crust by itself), and adding a little sharp cheese (Asiago?) around the edges made me want to eat even more! Second, the squash/fennel/beets were cooked just right, and the rosemary ricotta (while IMHO could have used just a tich more rosemary because I LOVE rosemary, sorry) balanced the overall flavoring. I’m assuming it was Nate Tilden, the owner, who was cooking when I picked up my order. He seemed like a genuinely good guy with a great vibe. I look forward to eating at this place when this whole COVID situation is over and the restaurant opens full time. But in the meantime, I’ll definitely be ordering more from this gem of a place. Such a great little spot! Bartender she was great! We had the pepperoni pizza slice, beer and their very own seltzer drink that they make! So good! Plan on going back when we are back in town! Kim Kasch 5/5 2 months ago This pizza restaurant was once a part of the Merchant Hotel which hosted a bevy of nefarious endeavors, such as mobsters and entrepreneurs of questionable character. One unfortunate victim was Nina (pronounced “Nigh-na”) who was forced to be a “working woman”. When missionaries tried to clean-up the Merchant Hotel, they enlisted Nina as a witness to rat-out the ringleaders in exchange for her freedom. Nina reportedly cooperated by handing over several names and shortly afterwards was found at the bottom of an elevator shaft. Today, Nina still walks the halls, and sometimes can be seen sitting on the bench in the back corner of the restaurant in a tiny room, which once housed the elevator. She has become the resident ghost for over 100 years. But that is only the beginning of the hauntings at the Old Town Pizzeria. If you walk to the basement and work your way through the maze, you will enter the area notoriously known as “The Shanghai Tunnels”. This is where over-imbibed men were tricked to stand on a certain section of the floor, which had a hatch that sprung downward, sending the men on their new career path of sailor. When they fell below into the tunnels, they were kidnapped and carried away to the waiting ships where they set sail on an enslaved journey they never expected. Many men never survived the journey and it’s said they quickly returned to the last location they remember – or what is now Old Town Pizza. So if you’re looking for a good ghost story and maybe some pizza this should be the perfect place to go.

The fish and chips we got were excellent- they had a great crisp to them and the sauce was flavorful and zesty. The Cobb salad was Ok… the chicken was reminiscent of packaged chicken I could buy at a store. I enjoyed my Huckleberry Daisy it was delicious! My hubby got a Wild Jito – which we thought was pretty good – very fresh tasting but I liked mine better. We sat outside and their patio area was nice but right directly on a busy street so it was rather loud at times, as lots of motorcycles and cars are next to you. I was torn between their maple pig or fennel diavolo pizza and ended up going with the goat cheese pizza the server shared as her personal favorite.
